Choral concert a celebration of spring

The School for Arts and Creative Innovation presents its spring choral concert featuring the 14-voice Chamber Choir directed by Richard Householder, and the 75-voice University Singers directed by Bradley Bloom on Friday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Assumption University Chapel.

The chamber choir will perform choruses from major works, including J.S. Bach’s Jesu, der du meine Seele, from Mendelssohn’s Elijah “Lift Thine Eyes” and from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado “Three Little Maids from School.”

Sing-along concert to raise organ donation awareness

A trio of music professors will join a UWindsor grad for a concert and sing-along at Windsor’s All Saints’ Church, Sunday, December 16. The event will raise money for organ donation awareness.

Pianist Gregory Butler and organist David Palmer have been asked for several years to put on a special Christmas performance but have never had time until now.

“Not only have we found the time to do this, but All Saints’ has graciously provided the space,” Dr. Butler posted on the website of sponsor Sport Fest Windsor.

Weekend concert to continue Christmas choral tradition

The University of Windsor School of Music will continue with a 36-year-old Christmas tradition Sunday, December 2, when the Chamber Choir and the University Singers will present A Festival of Christmas at Assumption Church.

The students have been preparing for the choral celebration since September. It will start at 3 p.m. and will be conducted by Bradley Bloom and Richard Householder.

UWindsor first-year class expands by 200

First-year domestic enrolment at the University of Windsor is up by almost 7 percent this fall despite the fact that applications showed no growth over 2010 numbers. Assistant provost Dave Bussière says there are a number of reasons for this positive news—increased and targeted advertising, an aggressive phone campaign by faculty and students, and almost 1,000 campus tours.
