A ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday officially opened the Campus Bookstore.
The Campus Bookstore invites the UWindsor community to join celebrations of its grand opening Tuesday.
The campus parking garage will open to employee permit holders Tuesday.
Progress toward relocating the Campus Bookstore to the ground floor of the CAW Student Centre is “very exciting,” says Anna Kirby, executive director of campus services.
“I can’t wait for people to see what that will look like in the fall,” she says. “They will be very pleased at what it offers to our students.”
Workers are currently clearing out the area that had been the Thirsty Scholar Pub. That space will house the bookstore, selling textbooks, school and office supplies, computers and computer supplies, UWindsor- and Lancer-themed apparel and a wide array of giftware.
Just hours after sending out an e-mail invitation for employees to participate in a questionnaire about their parking preferences, Parking Services received hundreds of responses.
“The initial message went out at around 3:15 Friday afternoon and by 5 p.m. there were over 400 respondents,” says Laurie Butler, manager of Campus Parking Services.
As of Tuesday, that number was more than 800.
Responding to the completion of the Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation, the 2013 expansion of the Odette School of Business and introduction of the Innovation Centre, and the planned opening of a Welcome Centre in 2014, the University’s new parking structure will open mid-2013. This will result in a substantial shift in the parking needs of students, staff and faculty.
The University of Windsor Bookstore will celebrate its grand re-opening in Vanier Hall today—Monday, November 26—with a grand sale to match the occasion.
The sale features a promotion of 50 per cent off the price of books that have already been marked down.
“Here’s one example of a book,” Bookstore marketing manager Martin Deck said. “A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving that was originally priced at $22, our regular sale price being $6.99, and the final half-off price brings it to $3.50.”
There is also a new item available just for the occasion.
