UWindsor looks to curb greenhouse gas emissions through $4.5 million retrofit

Students and faculty will be able to breathe easier thanks to a multi-million-dollar grant from the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD).

The University of Windsor’s board of governors has voted to proceed with the Greenhouse Gas Campus Retrofit Project to be supported by the single-year project grant of $4.5 million.

UWindsor among Ontario Universities committed to going greener

From bans on the sale of bottled water to organic campus farms and bike repair stations, Ontario universities are proving their strong commitment to shrinking their environmental footprint, concludes the Council of Ontario Universities’ (COU) annual Going Greener report.

The report, now in its sixth year, illustrates how universities in Ontario are becoming more sustainable in their operations and policies surrounding food sustainability, conservation efforts, and the creation of partnerships that are building a greener community.

Builders commit to making Welcome Centre green

While the University of Windsor will not pursue Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the Welcome Centre now under construction on the northeast corner of Patricia and Wyandotte, the building will feature enough environmental measures that certification is possible.
