Students who travelled to Costa Rica last week through the Alternative Spring Break program say they learned a great deal from the experience.
The group returned Saturday from the Soltis Centre at San Isidro, which supports research, education, and outreach efforts.
While in Costa Rica, the students followed dean of science Chris Houser on a hike through the rain forest; taught primary school pupils about the importance of its trees in protecting the local watershed; and led secondary school students in testing drinking water nitrogen, potassium, turbidity, and temperature.
The students also expressed gratitude to the campus community for its support of the program participants.
