Wednesday, December 19, is the deadline for applications to the Host for the Holidays program, which program places international students with Windsor families willing to open their homes to guests for a holiday dinner.
International student advisor Enrique Chacon says the students are interested in joining a typical Canadian celebration, so host families do not need to go to a lot of trouble.
“One extra seat around the table is all it takes,” he says. “They are interested in a true Canadian experience, so you shouldn’t change the way you enjoy the holiday—whichever holiday you celebrate.”
The application process matches hosts with guests based on a number of factors—dietary preferences, tolerance for pets, timing of the meal, and even convenience of transportation. Find more information, including online applications, on the International Student Centre website, uwindsor.ca/isc/host.
