In preparation for its move late this fall, the University Bookstore has already started to consolidate its operations, redistributing the general interest books on its second floor to its ground floor and lower levels.
“We wanted to see how well we will be able to cope with the smaller space,” says marketing manager Martin Deck. “The test is proving to ourselves and our clients that we can work with a reduced footprint.”
In addition to textbooks, school supplies and UWindsor-themed clothing and gear, the bookstore stocks a full range of books for the reading public, Deck says. While staff awaits an October move from its current location in the Odette Building, those volumes are being displayed on tables and shelves on the first two floors—children’s books, young adult novels and cookbooks on the main floor, and on the lower level, all other sections:
- Fiction
- History
- Biography
- Science
- Performing arts, including music, film and poetry
- Sports and games
- Dictionaries and reference works
- Test preparation guides
- Study guides
- Local authors
- Canadiana
- Travel
- Non-fiction, including health, psychology and self-help
The bookstore also stocks many discounted books, says Deck: “We always have some interesting titles at reduced prices.”
The University announced in April that the bookstore will relocate to the lower level of the CAW Student Centre. Renovations will convert the bookstore’s current space to classrooms, meeting rooms, study and gathering spaces for the Odette School of Business.
