If you missed the opportunity to see UWindsor chancellor Ed Lumley roasted or merely want to relive the memory, now is your chance. Cogeco cable will televise a recording of the May 30 roast three times in the next week on its channel 11 service:
- Friday, July 6, at 9 p.m.
- Sunday, July 8, at 9:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 11, at 7 p.m.
The event, held in Toronto’s Royal York Hotel, helped to raise $5.3 million for the Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation, named in honour of the Lumley’s many contributions during a long career of industrial leadership and public service, including serving as the University of Windsor’s chancellor since 2006.
The honorary co-chairs of his roast were former Canadian prime minister John Turner and former Ontario premier William Davis. CBC news anchor Peter Mansbridge presided as master of ceremonies while roasters included Ontario minister of finance Dwight Duncan, political strategist and communicator Bill Fox, former Ontario premier Michael Harris, former Ontario minister Sandra Pupatello, and former premier of Newfoundland and Labrador Brian Tobin.
