The Financial Clerk is accountable for administering the approved budget program particularly in the Facility Planning, Design and Construction area, maintaining and tracking budgetary controls, and assisting in formulating an internal financial statement. In doing this, the Financial Clerk interacts with University staff at all levels, including the Vice-Presidents, Deans and Directors. He/she will be dealing with highly confidential information in the budget area. The Financial Clerk must understand the planning process and support the Executive Director in assisting the Departmental managers in integrating the University’s future plans with the University’s financial budget along with integrating both internal and external occurrences into the budget process and future planning. He/she must be able to understand accounting concepts and be able to explain them to the Executive Director and the managers. Previous work experience and/or knowledgeable in accounting policies and practices; proficiency in various software applications including Windows 2000; MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and the University FIS System; ability to operate under minimal supervision and in a team environment. The Graduate Secretary contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the Programs of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) by providing secretarial, and administrative support to the Department Head, the IMSE Graduate Coordinator, the Chair of the IMSE Scholarship Committee and acts as recording secretary to these and certain other Department’s Committees, including the Graduate Programs Committee. This is a highly collaborative and team work oriented position within the IMSE Department and the Faculty of Engineering. The candidate will possess excellent organizational and administrative skills; high degree of tact and confidentiality; excellent initiative, reasoning, public relations; and interpersonal skills. The candidate will have working knowledge of MS Access Database management, Excel, MS Word, E-mail and Web Management, and experience with Windows Operating Systems, and achieve a typing speed of 50 N.W.P.M. In addition, working experience with Budgets is required. Testing: Typing, Excel (Basic), and Word (Basic).
