A free public lecture Friday will focus on the increasing pressures placed on universities, and their relevance in today’s shifting society.
Alastair Summerlee, professor of biomedical sciences at the University of Guelph, will deliver “The End of Dinosaurs: A Cautionary Tale for the Modern University?” at 3 p.m. November 11 in room 121, Biology Building.
The lecture is part of the Distinguished Speakers Series of Promoters of Experiential and Active, Research-based Learning (PEARL), a project of physics professor Chitra Rangan, a teaching leadership chair.
Dr. Summerlee will offer insights on rethinking the approach to university education, drawing on his expertise as a 3M teaching fellow and former president of the University of Guelph.
