Film, fashion, music, performance and discussion will all enjoy a turn in the spotlight during the African diaspora festival running this week in the CAW Student Centre.
AfroFest 2016 will open today with ceremonies at 1 p.m. in the Commons, followed by a fashion show and the “Always on Beat” dance event.
The festivities continue Tuesday with panel discussions, a games night, and a sampling of African foods; Wednesday with workshops and a networking event; Thursday with a presentation on local sports stars, first-person stories of growing up black, and a Black Lives Matter vigil; and culminating Friday with a finale of love and games.
