A presentation on records collected by historic St. John’s Anglican Church in Sandwich from 1828 to 1915 will offer a look at the type of work made possible by collaboration between the Leddy Library’s Centre for Digital Scholarship and the history department.
History students Salma Abumeeiz, Sean Antaya, Kayla Dettinger, Kyle Lariviere, and Tyler Pickel formed one group of several who worked with records in the library’s archives for a project in professor Adam Pole’s new 400-level public history course.
The students digitized materials and worked with the Centre for Digital Scholarship to curate and contextualize them using Omeka, a recently-acquired software system that provides a web-publishing platform for the display of library, museum, archives, and scholarly collections and exhibitions.
Their presentation demonstrating the capabilities of the software will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, January 15, in room 302, Leddy West.
