Consultations to advance internationalization and global engagement efforts under the University’s strategic plan framework, Aspire: Together for Tomorrow, will focus on six key themes: administrative structure, curriculum, global education opportunities, international student and scholar experience, collaboration and partnerships, and faculty policies.
The importance of global engagement is articulated in the University’s mission statement and is already an integral part of teaching, research, and service activities, says provost Robert Aguirre.
“Students come to the University of Windsor from many countries, and the University builds partnerships with leading universities the world over,” Dr. Aguirre says. “It is a truly global place, one where discovery happens every day.”
At a kick-off workshop in August, members of the Global Engagement Committee, Provost’s Council, and associate deans took stock of the current strengths in this area and envisioned aspirations for the next five years.
A brief survey to aid in the development of the plan’s strategic priorities has been circulated to students, faculty, and staff.
“Input from the campus community will be crucial to this strategy’s success,” says Chris Busch, associate vice-president for enrolment management and senior international officer. “Expertise offered by faculty, staff, and students will help ensure that the plan aligns with our institutional priorities and strengthens the University’s role in the global academic landscape.”
Further consultations with faculty and University leadership are planned throughout the fall semester. To learn more about the global engagement strategy, visit the UWindsor Global website.
