The University of Windsor’s Retirees Association (WURA) will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its founding with an open-house reception, Thursday, October 8, from 4 to 6 p.m., in Assumption Hall’s Freed-Orman Commons.

Founded in 1990, the association promotes and advances the interests of retired senior administrators, faculty and librarians. Through ongoing interaction with the University, faculty association and parallel retirees’ organizations in universities across Canada, WURA advocates in areas of pension and health benefits as well as other issues of interest to retirees.

According to WURA president Datta Pillay, the university counts 400 retirees to date, with many continuing to contribute significantly to the university and community through ongoing research and creative activity.

“We look forward greatly to welcoming former colleagues and students and distinguished guests from the university as we celebrate the achievements of the retired community in building the University of Windsor,” says professor emeritus David Palmer, chair of the planning committee.
