Windsor will get a sneak preview of Gina Lori Riley Dance Enterprises’ new audio-visual theatre creation, I Am Here, in advance of the production’s June opening in Toronto.
Riley, an associate professor in the School of Dramatic Art, will bring her award-winning company to campus Friday, May 29 for an 8 p.m. performance, followed by a 2:30 p.m. matinee and 8 p.m. show on Saturday, May 30, all in UWindsor’s Jackman Dramatic Art Centre.
I Am Here communicates through a single, masked character as ‘Man-Woman’, and a physical genre that includes digital art and video projections, music-soundscapes, and poetic word. The work explores the comedic and tragic aspects associated with aging, and questions the socio-political values placed on youth and beauty.
Artisits include digital media artist David Court (BAH ‘96) and performing artist Meaghan Quinn (BFA 2001), both currently teaching at UWindsor.
