The Winter 2022 winners of the Co-op/Internship Rising Star Student Awards were driven to make the most out of their co-op journey, surpassing all expectations and confronting all challenges with new ideas and a positive attitude, reports the Office of Co-operative Education and Workplace Partnerships.
The awards are presented each year to recognize the outstanding achievements, contributions, and performances that co-op and internship students have made while out on their work placements.
This year’s are outstanding ambassadors for the co-op program and have done an exemplary job representing the University within the broader community:
Kartik Kansaria, Master of Applied Computing student
Kansaria completed an internship at Prodigy Education Inc. as a quality assurance analyst. During his placement, he took the initiative to work on several challenging projects, including developing a successful automation script that led to a decrease in scheduling errors and a reduction in manual efforts.
Moneeza Sami, third-year business student
Sami completed her co-op placement with the University of Windsor’s Continuing Education, where she played a key role in further developing its marketing efforts and increasing its social media presence.
Yasamin Safi, third-year civil engineering student
Safi completed her co-op placement at Citi-Core Group as a project co-ordinator, working on addressing challenges and solving problems related to a two-tower construction project located in downtown Toronto.
“I can confidently say this experience helped me grow professionally and communicate more clearly,” Safi says. “Completing my co-op placement showed me what the subdiscipline of civil engineering had to offer and made me interested in becoming a construction project manager in my early career.”
