Despite incredible innovation and growth in the way legal services can be delivered, most firms continue to practice law the way it has been practiced for centuries: as a labour-intensive endeavour carried out by high-priced lawyers billing by the hour, says Mitch Kowalski.
The Toronto lawyer, author of Avoiding Extinction: Reimagining Legal Services for the 21st Century, will make the case for focusing on delivering high-quality legal services better, faster, and cheaper in a free public address Thursday, November 13, at 7 p.m. in the CAW Student Centre’s Ambassador Auditorium.
He argues for a firm redefined as a service corporation that is structured and managed in ways that truly deliver value to the client, profitability to the firm and career satisfaction to the lawyers
Kowalski teaches in the law schools at Western University and the University of Ottawa. He speaks regularly on legal service innovation as well as blogging on legal matters for the National Post’s blog, The Legal Post.
