Although the Holy Name of Mary building on McEwan Avenue now hosts the parish community of Assumption Church, the historic structure at the corner of University Avenue and Huron Church Road will continue to offer Sunday services to members of the campus community.
The Campus Ministry of Assumption University will celebrate mass Sundays at 4 p.m. in Rosary Chapel, on the west side of Assumption Church.
“There have been many transitions for Catholics on campus these past couple of years, but I am hoping that this will be one that is welcomed and successful,” says Andrea Dula, program coordinator for Campus Ministry.
She says the new services are not meant to interfere with those at Holy Name of Mary. The time slot also allows for a time of fellowship afterwards.
“Our mission has always been to support the spiritual well-being of the campus community,” Dula says. “This includes bringing them the Gospel and making the Eucharist accessible.”
