Shu Di Dong is going to miss the Campus Community Barbecue. The fourth-year chemistry student has been attending the fall tradition annually since she started at the University of Windsor.

“It was good to come every year,” she said Thursday as she selected a fresh apple from the bins in the Student Courtyard. “It’s a nice event.”

Hundreds of students and employees turned out to partake of the free food, bask in the sun, and groove to the tunes. Valerie Bonasso, property and scene painter for the School of Dramatic Art, said she welcomes the chance to meet with her colleagues from around campus.

“I love that this happens,” she said. “We get buried in our own little silos and never get out on campus to see people.”

A new feature this year was a runway show of fashions from the Campus Bookstore. Volunteer model R.J. D’Aguilar was happy to don some Under Armour sweats bearing UWindsor logos.

“It was an excellent opportunity to represent to campus and to promote engagement in the school,” said the first-year psychology major.

First-year students Yulia Dziekan, Daniel Moffat and Brittany Lesy turned their barbecue into a picnic on the lawn outside Dillon Hall.
