Giselle Aiabens, Indigenous enrolment advisor in the Office of Enrolment Management, emerged victorious in a quiz celebrating International Women’s Day in Tuesday’s edition of DailyNews.
Her entry was drawn from all those which correctly identified Sylvia McAdam as a founder of Idle No More, Mary Ann Shadd Cary as Canada’s first female newspaper publisher, 1940 as the date Quebec extended voting rights to women, Katherine Johnson as John Glenn’s trusted mathematician, Gladys West as a pioneer in GPS research, Viola Desmond as “the Rosa Parks of the North,” and 1917 as the year Russian women struck for bread and peace.
Aiabens will receive a prize package of a series of five posters by alumnus Robert Small (BA 1993) and a copy of the Inspirational Women Trivia Game, donated by professor emeritus Christina Simmons.
