Ontario University Athletics named Lancer midfielder Jade Samping and goaltender Lauren Gellner all-stars in women’s soccer Thursday.
Both started all 10 of the team’s games this season. Gellner shut out opponents five times while Samping played every minute of every match, recording 14 shots in the process.
Head coach Dan Mendonca called the two leaders on and off the pitch.
“Their commitment to our program values, and on-field performance is second to none,” he said. “I am proud of them and look forward to watching their growth going forward.”

Women’s volleyball to open season Friday
Lancer women’s volleyball will return to the court this weekend with a back-to-back contests against the Warriors in Waterloo.
Head coach Lucas Hodgson says his players will be ready to compete: “They are so excited to play that keeping their motivation up has not been a challenge.”

The action gets underway with the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12 and 13. All four matches will be available to stream over OUA.tv.
Men’s hockey will also be in Waterloo to face off against the Laurier Golden Hawks at 7 p.m. Catch the action via OUA.tv.
Basketball will flip the script, with the Waterloo Warriors in Windsor to take on the Lancers on Saturday, Nov. 13. The women will tip off at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. in the Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
