Online learning globally has been growing massively for the past two decades but remained a relatively niche teaching and learning experience until the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nick Baker, director of the Office of Open Learning, will explore some of the core elements of accessible online course design, considerations for selecting educational technologies, and lessons learned from the transition to online learning for all students and instructors in a presentation at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23.

“Accessible Online Education During the Pandemic and Beyond” is the fourth in a weekly series of Accessibility Awareness Day events presented each Tuesday in March by the Office of Human Rights, Equity, and Accessibility.

The series, on the theme “It’s Accessible, but is it Inclusive?” will continue March 30 with the keynote address, “Inclusion has to be Purposeful.”
