Festival to showcase talents of local youth

UWindsor students and alumni are among the performers who will take to the virtual stage during an online arts festival Aug. 22.

The Children’s Arts Organizations Showcase (CHAOS Festival) will feature everything from theatre to film, song, and dance, says co-organizer Gemma Cunial, a master’s student of film and media arts.

“Art hasn’t stopped, so neither did we,” she says. “We are thrilled to safely share much of the wonderful art crafted by local young artists.”

The festival will present readings and workshops, a gallery of visual art, and live-streamed performances.

Among the highlights with a campus connection:

  • Cunial will screen works from the Windsor Youth Short Film Showcase;
  • the independent Abridged Opera company will sing classic pieces under the artistic direction of Erin Armstrong (BMus 2007);
  • author Vanessa Shields (BA 2002) will conduct a poetry workshop;
  • drama grad Natalie Worsley (BA 2020) will lead a make-up tutorial; and
  • education major Hope Forman and drama student Chris Boyd direct kids in a series of Fractured Fairy Tales;

all under the leadership of producer Tracey Atin (MA 1988, BMus 1990).

Admission is free and runs Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Find all the action at chaosfest.org.
