A book drive continuing on campus through April is aimed at redressing a shortage of books in Africa, say student organizers.
Maggie Chan, literacy chair for the UWindsor chapter of the Golden Key International Honour Society, says the drive fits with the society’s goal of promoting literacy.
“Since 1988, Books for Africa has shipped over 24 million high-quality text and library books to children and adults in 45 African countries,” she says. “Millions more are needed.”
The group is collecting textbooks, study guides, workbooks, fiction and nonfiction; donations may be made in a bin next to the information desk in the CAW Student Centre. For more information, contact Chan at chan11t@uwindsor.ca.
