The UWSA and a volunteer team of students and community members have initiated a farmers' market for the University of Windsor campus starting this Thursday, September 26th from 1 pm to 6 pm through October 17th.
The market will be located outside the CAW student centre between Dillon Hall and Memorial Hall and will run rain or shine, possibly moving inside the CAW centre in the case of extreme weather conditions.
The mission of this cost-neutral initiative is to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for students and staff, provide positive social encounters, build a sense of community and encourage everyone to make healthy food choices while supporting the local economy.
At the market you can expect to find both organic and conventionally-grown fresh vegetables and fruit from Essex county and the surrounding area. You will also find fish and meat products from Southern Ontario, quality baked goods produced by local entrepreneurs in certified kitchens as well as some pre-made meals and health beverages. Additionally, some vendors will have handicrafts, art work and other goods or services from local businesses.
Please join us for the launch on Thursday, September 26th at 1pm and celebrate the bounty this region has to offer!
