DailyNews to move to twice-weekly publication schedule

DailyNews will begin its summer publishing schedule next week, moving to two issues a week. The University of Windsor’s e-newsletter will publish Mondays and Thursdays until it resumes daily publication September 3.

Holiday Mondays on May 20, July 1, August 5 and September 2 will push publication scheduled for these dates to the following Tuesday.

Public affairs, campaign and alumni offices offline to start week

UWindsor offices vacating the Assumption University building next week may be difficult to contact during their relocation.

Among the affected offices are University Campaign, Public Affairs and Communications, Alumni Affairs, Alumni and Donor Records and special events manager Mary-Ann Rennie. Operation of the online photo library database may also be disrupted.

Demonstrate knowledge of 50th anniversary celebrations to win UWindsor sweatshirts

To help measure interest in preparations for the University’s 50th anniversary, DailyNews is pleased to offer readers a trivia contest on promotions of the Celebration Weekend, September 19 to 22.

Up for grabs are two zippered sweatshirts embroidered with the UWindsor logo, courtesy of the Office of Public Affairs and Communications—a ladies’ large in gray heather and a dark blue men’s hoodie, size medium.

Celebration Weekend ads hit city streets

A series of billboards celebrating the University’s 50th anniversary are part of an awareness campaign to involve the local community in September’s events, says Holly Ward, UWindsor’s chief communications officer.

“Windsor is home to thousands of alumni, so naturally we want to make sure local residents save the date in their calendars and plan to join us in September,” she says. “The University is an important part of the region and we want the community to know that everyone is invited to the celebration; it’s not only for our alumni.”

Cupcakes capture attention of campus community

A cupcake giveaway Wednesday in the CAW Student Centre served its purpose of bringing attention to the University’s 50th anniversary, organizers say.

“We had a really nice turnout,” says chief communications officer Holly Ward. “It is important for us to make sure the campus community is aware of what we’re doing. We will be launching advertising soon, but the current students and employees are really a core part of the celebration.”

Cupcake giveaway today an invitation to join the celebration

Students, faculty, staff and friends of the University of Windsor can enjoy a complimentary cupcake in the CAW Student Centre Commons today starting at 11:30 a.m.

The giveaway marks the start of an awareness campaign leading up to the Celebration Weekend activities, scheduled from September 19 to 22. September activities to mark the University’s 50th anniversary will include class reunion events, a vintage car show, homecoming football game, children’s fun zone, signature entertainment at Caesars Windsor, and more.
