The University of Windsor Bookstore will celebrate its grand re-opening in Vanier Hall today—Monday, November 26—with a grand sale to match the occasion.

The sale features a promotion of 50 per cent off the price of books that have already been marked down.

“Here’s one example of a book,” Bookstore marketing manager Martin Deck said. “A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving that was originally priced at $22, our regular sale price being $6.99, and the final half-off price brings it to $3.50.”

There is also a new item available just for the occasion.

The 2011-12 annual report, now available online, provides information on the University of Windsor’s activities in support of its strategic plan Thinking Forward … Taking Action.

UWindsor president Alan Wildeman says the document informs the campus, the region and beyond about what’s important to the University.

“Our plan puts an emphasis on our students, on building on our research and creative activity that contributes to society’s needs, and engaging the community around us,” he says.

The University of Windsor remains in the middle of the pack in the rankings of comprehensive universities released yesterday by Maclean’s magazine. In most categories, the University scored near the median across Canada.

The University of Windsor’s contributions to the United Way of Windsor-Essex play a critical role in making the community a better place, according to the organization’s CEO.

“The university is a very important partner for us and we’re very grateful for all their contributions,” said Penny Marrett, who along with president Alan Wildeman, was on campus yesterday for a flag-raising ceremony to kick off this year’s annual campaign.
