Upgrades to the washrooms in Dillon Hall will have a series of consequences for the building’s occupants this week, reports Facility Services.

• An interruption to the building’s water supply—including all sinks and drinking fountains—continues through Wednesday, June 20, at 4 p.m.
• The fire alarm system will be disabled weekdays from approximately 7:30 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. through July 6. During this period, the contractor will conduct a fire watch to ensure the safety of people in Dillon Hall.
• The south end of the ground floor corridor outside the offices of the Educational Development Centre and Student Disability Services will be inaccessible to pedestrian or wheelchair traffic, as will the building’s elevator, from 7:30 a.m. June 19 through June 26. Pedestrians may enter this area through the stairs at the building’s south end. Any individual with a mobility disability may contact the office to make alternate arrangements at 519-253-3000, ext. 3288.
• Saw cutting of the floors in this corridor and in rooms 121 and 123 will take place after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 18.
• Air handlers will be shut down between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. from June 20 to 22 during asbestos abatement work in the washroom upgrade areas, including all washrooms, the women’s lounge on the ground floor, janitorial closets, mechanical and electrical storerooms, and rooms 119, 121, 123, 261, 362 and 364.

June 24 power shutdown to affect fewer buildings

The campus-wide power shutdown that had been scheduled for June 24 has been postponed until 2013, with no exact date set yet.

High voltage work will require the complete cut-off of electricity from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, in the following buildings:

• Lambton Tower
• Erie Hall
• University Computer Centre
• Faculty of Education Gym
• 470, 478, 484 and 496 Sunset Avenue.

Power shutdown to affect Centre for Engineering Innovation June 23 and 24

A power shutdown scheduled for 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, will affect several areas in Phase 1 of the Centre for Engineering Innovation, including some labs and the office spaces of the WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation.

Construction to limit access to Assumption Church parking lot

The reconstruction of the driveway entrance to the Assumption Church parking lot on University Avenue will limit access to half the driveway over the next six weeks, which may mean delays for cars entering and exiting the lot.

Access to this lot will be restricted completely from time to time on Thursday, June 21, to allow for the pouring of new cement curbs and medians.

The most unkindest cut: Contractors made quick work of the former drama building at the intersection of Wyandotte and Patricia streets this week, levelling it to clear the space for the new Welcome Centre planned for the site.
