After spending three years in Windsor, law students preparing to graduate this spring from the Dual JD program wanted to give back to the community, and found a way on Valentine’s Day.
Volunteers distributed more than 100 CandyGrams, including handwritten notes, to children in the care of the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society.
Organizer Amanda Iarusso pitched the ideas to her classmates, and says they immediately responded by raising funds to cover the cost of the packets and gathered Sunday to assemble them.
“The majority of students in this class are returning to the Greater Toronto Area after graduation,” she says. “It was important to us to give back to Windsor-Essex in some way.”
She says the students were moved to let the children know that they are thinking about them.
“The Dual JD Class of 2017 is challenging other classes to work together to spread the love and pay it forward before graduating,” says Iarusso.
