An award for forensics students will honour the memory of Victoria Strehlau, the first-year student who died in October.
Strehlau made a deep impression on her classmates and instructors, says Katherine Quinsey, acting assistant provost for inter-faculty programs.
“Victoria was a stunningly talented artist and a passionate supporter of community causes such as the needs of Windsor’s homeless people and the blood donation drive,” she says. “We would like to continue her work and to keep her bright spirit alive in an ongoing annual gift in her memory.”
The Victoria Strehlau Memorial Award in Forensics will award $500 annually to a student completing first year studies in the Forensics program who demonstrates an exceptional spirit of service to the community and a strong academic record.
“In keeping with the wishes of our students, faculty and staff, this memorial will assist similarly talented students in future,” Dr. Quinsey says.
