Mental Health Awareness Week to open eyes and minds on campus

Mental Health Awareness Week will run January 14 to 18, encouraging members of the campus community to get involved in creating an open, informed and supportive environment around mental health issues.

Scheduled events include a free evening with TSN Off the Record host Michael Landsberg, who will discuss his own struggles with mental illness and depression during his talk, “Darkness and Hope: Depression, Sports and Me,” at 8 p.m. on Monday, January 14, at the St. Denis Centre.

Other scheduled events include:

  • A Music, Mood and Food event in the CAW Student Centre,
  • free fitness classes all week,
  • a Health Fair,
  • plays dealing with mental health issues’
  • local authors discussing a variety of issues, including eating disorders and anxiety.
