Registration is now open for Smartphone Day on Thursday, November 10.
Staff and faculty may sign up for the following free sessions, all offered in room 203, Toldo Health Education Centre:
“Smartphone Information Session” Representatives from Kelcom and Telus Mobility will present information on the new Windsor-Essex Smart Community contract offerings, the latest devices and their use, and how you can minimize your costs for use locally and when you travel, thus maximizing your use of your smartphone voice and data services. This session is targeted for new and existing users. 10 to 11 a.m.
“Getting the most from your Smartphone and Tablet” IT Services staff members Bodek Frak and Craig Brown will offer information on integrating your devices with the University's enterprise systems, such as e-mail, calendar and contacts, how to resolve common issues that you may encounter with your device, as well as who to contact for support. They will compare RIM's BlackBerry/Playbook, Apple’s iPhone/iPad and Android-based devices, discussing the pros and cons of owning them to help you decide which device is the best fit for you. This session is tailored to existing users who want to get the most of their devices, whether it is a BlackBerry, an iPhone or Android based device, as well as users who are considering switching to another brand. 11 a.m. to noon
“Are you on the right plan?” Telus Mobility and Kevin Bieth from Kelcom will provide information on the latest Smart Community/University of Windsor Telus contract, detailing the changes. The presentation will explain different highlights of smartphone changes and how to save money by implementing the best plan for you. This session is targeted for existing users. 1 to 2 p.m.
In addition, from 2 to 4 p.m., breakout sessions for individual questions and inquiries will run in room 215. Representatives from Telus and Kelcom will be available to offer advice on changing your plan.
