It's Not My Dog
Abstract: Michael Gilbert and Christopher Tindale have for some time been among the leaders in the trend to examine applications of argument theory and the rhetorical turn in it. They have emphasized the importance of hitherto ignored perspectives on argument. In the process, each in his own way has been critical of informal logic. In this talk I suggest that each has had a widely shared a faulty conception of informal logic, which is a defect in their theories and if not corrected might spread, and I propose a remedy for it.
