We are preparing to put together our Campus Ministry Student Leadership Team for 2020-2021.
The Student Leadership Team is a small group of dedicated students who are committed to the mission of Campus Ministry and serving their peers. Team members participate in the work of Campus Ministry through welcome month support, leading small groups, and other activities such as socials, Mass ministries, and outreach.
Campus Ministry's Mission
Assumption University’s Campus Ministry serves all students, faculty, and staff of the University of Windsor by journeying with them as they grow in wisdom and truth.
We are looking for individuals who are committed to this mission.
Leadership Training
Members of the Student Leadership Team are called to serve but also be served and grow. Student Leaders kick the year off with Leadership Summit, which is a free overnight, two-night event where they will receive formation in faith life, ministry, and campus life. Team Members will also meet with Campus Ministry staff on a regular basis throughout the year where they will continue to work on growing in their own faith and ministry.
Student Commitment
Student Campus Ministers are expected to be regular members of the Campus Ministry Community whether that is through lounge presence, program and event attendance, participation in the Sunday Night Mass, or online through social media.
Leaders commit to approximately 3 hours per week of leadership duties which includes leading small group, outreach on campus, and regular meetings with a staff mentor. There is also a commitment to attending the entire Leadership Summit on September 11-13, 2020 and a Commissioning at 7:30pm Mass on September 13.
Application and Selection Process
Applications for the Student Leadership Team are now available on our website. The deadline has been extended until April 6.
The Campus Ministry Staff will review the applications and set up one-on-one conversations to discuss the opportunity with you. This will be a two-way discernment. You need to pray and decide if this is what you're being called to and we will be praying and deciding the best make up for the 2020-2021 team. One-on-one meetings will take place after finals and decisions will be made by early May.
Should You Apply?
Consider these questions to help you discern whether the Campus Ministry Student Leader Team is right for you:
- Am I a Catholic University of Windsor student?
- Do I want to grow in my faith?
- Do I have a desire to journey with others as they grow in faith?
- Can I communicate well with others?
- Do I have the time?
- Do I have a heart to be generous?
- Am I willing to discuss faith and share life with others?
- Do I have a welcoming attitude?
- Am I ready to be a contagious missionary disciple?
How Else Can I Get Involved?
The ministry provided by Campus Ministry is rooted in the call to relationship with Christ. We strive to welcome everyone to a place where life meets faith. But Campus Ministry is so much more that just our programs or our staff or our lounge. Each person who is part of our community helps make up Campus Ministry. The success of our programs, events, and services rely on engaged and open students on their own faith journey.
In 2020 we will be offering short volunteer training opportunities so others can be involved in our Welcome Month outreach, table outreach, and other programs and events on campus in a volunteer capacity!
We hope you'll consider joining us as a Campus Ministry Student Volunteer in 2020-2021. More details coming this summer!
