My name is Hassan, and I graduated in 2021 from the Interdisciplinary Arts and Science Program, where I completed a double major in Biology and Drama. As of 2022, I am entering the final semester of my Master of Translational Health Science at the University of Windsor. My time in ArtSci had been nothing short of exceptional. The small class sizes, the caring professors, and the connections I forged with my peers in my cohort are something I continue to cherish to this day. The experience I gained serving as president of BASA or chairing the first-ever Combining 2 Cultures conference at the University of Windsor allowed me to develop a genuine appreciation for interdisciplinary thinking and its applicability in the real world. In my graduate studies, I am constantly reminded of the need for multidisciplinary thinking to meet the demand of an ever-evolving world and the complex challenges that come with it. The ArtSci program prepared me well to face these challenges.
To prospective students, if you have a passion for both science and art, I encourage you to take advantage of this unique degree that allows you to tailor your degree to your interests. Not only can you study what you want, but through your final research project, you are allowed to conduct research on subjects you are interested in and apply the theories you are learning in class to practice. Whether you want to conduct research analyzing patrons' experience of online zoom theatre or analyze a novel cancer screening technology being introduced to southwestern Ontario (or do both, like me!), you can conduct research you are genuinely passionate about!
I implore you to apply to the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Arts and Science Program. If you are looking for a unique educational experience and to be a leader in the next generation of post-secondary education, or looking to have a solid base to begin professional school after graduation, this is the program for you!
