Alum Profile: Yasin Avci

Artsci Alum: Yasin Avci

My name is Yasin and I graduated from the Interdisciplinary Arts and Science program in 2019 with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology. I appreciated the flexibility that I had when choosing courses as I was able to choose classes outside of my major and minor stream that also interested me (like Intro to Italian and Astronomy). Another great thing that I found about the ArtSci program was the small class sizes for the program-only courses where you were able to connect with your professor and classmates. I was involved in several clubs at the University of Windsor but one of note was the Bachelor of Arts and Science Association (BASA) where I was co-president in my final year.

I also had the opportunity to get involved in biochemistry research for much of my time in undergrad. The Interdisciplinary Arts and Science program helped me develop a new approach to problem solving where I can appreciate how those with different backgrounds can be affected and can help with their unique viewpoints. I have always had a passion for the arts, and I liked that I received a well-rounded education with this program. I continue to express this passion through my Instagram page (@yeahiveseenthat) where I post snapshots of my journey in photography. As of 2022, I am pursuing a medical degree and hope to graduate in 2025. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about the Interdisciplinary Arts and Science program!
