Free event. The public is welcome.  This event is co-sponsored by INCUBATOR Lab.

Kenneth E. Rinaldo is an American artist and arts educator, known for his interactive robotics, 3D animation and bio-art installations blurring the boundaries between the organic and inorganic and engaging the co-evolution between living and evolving technological cultures. His work interrogates fuzzy boundaries, and posits that as new machinic and algorithmic species arise, we need to better understand the complex intertwined ecologies these semi-living species create with our natural world. His works are focused on trans-species communication, animal agency, insect, bacterial and emergent machine intelligences.

Amy M. Youngs, creates biological art, interactive sculptures and digital media works that explore interdependencies between technology, plants and animals. Her practice- based research involves entanglements Farm Fountain and Machine Garden, collaborative works by Rinaldo & Youngswith the non-human, constructing ecosystems, and seeing through the eyes of machines. She has created installations that amplify the sounds and movements of living worms, indoor ecosystems that grow edible plants, a multi-channel interactive video sculpture for a science museum, and community-based, participatory video, social media and public web cam projects.

This artist lecture runs from noon to 2:00 on Thursday Feb. 14th in the Armouries Performance Hall.  There will be slides, discussion, and questions.
