Forensic Science is distinguished by the application of an area of natural or social sciences to criminal and civil investigations. The field is multidisciplinary and combines knowledge of forensic techniques with disciplinary subject specialization. Multiple career paths are possible depending upon students’ areas of interest.
Program Descriptions
The University of Windsor has two degrees in forensics:
- Honours Bachelor of Forensic Science (with choice of three specializations)
- Combined Bachelor of Arts Honours in Forensics (with choice of second major)
In both programs, theoretical and practical knowledge emphasize the identification, preservation and analysis of evidence, while developing interpersonal, ethical, and critical-thinking skills.
Students learn about reporting and presenting forensic evidence in court, and study aspects of law, criminality, judicial systems, and the importance of high ethical standards in forensic investigations.
Honours Bachelor of Forensic Science
This program has an emphasis in the natural sciences with concentrations in:
- Forensic Human Biology
- Forensic Chemistry
- Ecology of Death
It is intended for students who wish to continue to graduate/professional schools, or work in a forensic science or other scientific laboratory.

Admission Requirements
Minimum admission average 70% 4U average and a second average of at least 70% in Science courses. ENG4U, SBI4U, SCH4U and MHF4U are required. MCV4U is recommended and SPH4U is strongly recommended.
