WINDSOR, Ont. — Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to advancing student affairs on a global scale, the University of Windsor’s Shetina M. Jones has been appointed to The American College Personnel Association's (ACPA) esteemed Leadership Council.
Dr. Jones, who assumed her role as Associate Vice-President of Student Experience at UWindsor in May, was recently elected to the position of Vice-President Equity and Inclusion at the ACPA.
"With great joy and a profound sense of responsibility, I embrace this new opportunity to contribute to the vital work of equity and inclusion within higher education," Jones said.
"As we collectively strive for diverse and inclusive learning environments, I am honoured to be a part of ACPA's leadership team and look forward to fostering positive change that resonates across the global academic community and here at UWindsor."
The ACPA is a leading international association dedicated to advancing student affairs and fostering a lifetime of learning and discovery.
Heather Shea, current ACPA president and former colleague of Jones when she worked at Michigan State University, said Jones “brings enthusiasm, engagement and deep commitment to advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion efforts in ACPA.”
“I’m thrilled that Dr. Shetina M. Jones was elected as the Vice President-Elect of Equity and Inclusion on the ACPA College Student Educators International Leadership Council,” Dr. Shea said.
“Her extensive experience with leadership roles in the association, including serving as a past president of ACPA-Michigan, current chair of the Commission for Academic Affairs Administrators and Mentoring and Social Co-Chair in the PAN African Network equip her with incredible experiences and ties to various membership constituencies.”
Jones emphasized that ACPA stands at the forefront of transforming higher education by championing influential scholarship, shaping critically reflective practice, and advocating for equitable and inclusive learning environments. She said her 15 years with the organization was instrumental in shaping her into the dynamic leader she is today.
