Basketball Canada has tapped Lancer coach Chris Cheng to lead Team Canada in the 2024 FIBA U17 Men’s basketball World Cup.

Lancer men’s basketball head coach Chris Cheng will coach Team Canada in the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Istanbul.
The tournament will run June 29 to July 7 and features athletes born no earlier than 2007. FIBA is the French acronym for the International Basketball Federation.
Cheng made his Canadian national team head coaching debut at the FIBA U16 Men’s Americas Championship 2023, where Canada won silver.
“There is no greater honour than to represent your country. It gives me great joy to represent Canada,” he says. “Anytime I have an opportunity to do so, it is always a privilege. I am looking forward to working with my staff and the 12 selected athletes to represent Canada at the world championships.”
