H1N1 Influenza Update

Updated January 11, 2010

After consultation with health authorities, the University has returned to its usual sick note practice for absenteeism. It had been suspended temporarily last semester in light of the H1N1 influenza pandemic.

The University continues to encourage those who are ill to stay home to recuperate and of course, to notify their supervisors of their absences. It is reinstating the previous practice of requiring a doctor-signed medical note in the event of an absence related to flu or other illness.

On January 18, we will remove the Flu Notification Web page. This will give those who previously created records the opportunity to update their recovery status.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit currently has no more clinics scheduled for H1N1 immunization. Instead, it will provide the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines by appointment only. To make an appointment, please phone 519-258-2146, ext. 1434, 1425, or 1426.
